The premise
Here’s the bit.
A grown son recalls his father’s late-night visits, when drunken advice and threats repeatedly interrupted bedtime. Memories of Christmas gifts and a promised puppy reveal a household ruled by cruel jokes and absurd excuses. As the flashbacks give way to the present, the son insists he has escaped his father’s example while his own drink suggests otherwise.
