The premise
Here’s the bit.
At Bloomsville State Penitentiary, a prisoner keeps talking an astonishingly trusting guard into releasing him. Each recapture makes the guard more determined to prove he cannot be fooled, but his attempts to assert control only create new opportunities for escape. When he finally volunteers to help the prisoner get beyond the other guards, his enthusiasm defeats the plan. Two years later, the former guard has become the prisoner’s endlessly chatty cellmate.
