The person behind the punchline
A little backstory.
Will Ferrell is an actor, comedian and writer who moved from the Groundlings to Saturday Night Live in 1995. Across seven seasons, he played original characters and impersonated figures including George W. Bush, Harry Caray, Neil Diamond and Al Gore. His SNL work combined broad physical performance with characters whose confidence often exceeded their abilities. He left the cast in 2002 and has returned as a host.
Ferrell's film comedies include Elf, Anchorman, Talladega Nights and Step Brothers. His collaboration with Adam McKay extended from movies to producing and online comedy: they helped launch Funny or Die with Chris Henchy in 2007. His work connects live sketch, filmed comedy and comic characters sustained across feature-length stories.
