The premise
Here’s the bit.
Tom and Kathy Framingham arrive at Dr. Beaman’s office expecting their baby’s test results. The doctor interrupts the visit to chat with a friend, insults the couple within earshot, and repeatedly confuses their case with other patients. His nurse briefly restores the facts, but Beaman responds with an impossible diagnosis and brings in another doctor who offers a dance instead of help. Beaman eventually admits that he took the infant out and lost him. Tom’s surprising willingness to forgive the disaster leaves Kathy appalled and the doctor relieved to end the appointment.
