The premise

Here’s the bit.

Hoping to give Thanksgiving the musical canon Christmas enjoys, three National Endowment for the Arts judges offer a grant for the holiday's defining song and hold open auditions in an empty theater. A boozy New Orleans torch singer, a heartbroken Knoxville country singer, a Kingston reggae act, a Berkeley folk singer who sides with the turkey, a howling rock singer, a Detroit crooner whose ballad keeps turning into innuendo and a frantic Orlando song-and-dance duo each take the microphone, while the panel's polite responses grow increasingly strained.

Say it with us

Highly quotable.

What if you were the turkey?

Sorry, we don't validate parking.

I know that sound is sexual, but I was referring to the portion of the turkey.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

SNL Archives lists this sketch as the first appearance of Ana Gasteyer's folk singer Cinder Calhoun.
