The person behind the punchline
A little backstory.
Heidi Gardner is an actor and comedian who came to television sketch comedy through the Groundlings in Los Angeles, joining its Main Company in 2015. She became a Saturday Night Live cast member in 2017 and remained for eight seasons, leaving in 2025.
Her character work includes teenage film reviewer Bailey Gismert, Pretty Mandy and Angel, the girlfriend drawn from boxing-movie conventions. These parts brought her experience in creating characters for the Groundlings to recurring sketches and Weekend Update appearances.
