Mississippi Gary interrupts his band's performance to describe the heartbreak that fuels his music. From her office, Kathie hears his accusations and presents her side of the relationship: Gary's constant gloom, unemployment and bad manners have exhausted her patience. The sketch cuts between his theatrical grievances onstage and her increasingly pointed rebuttals at work. A disagreement about dinner becomes another blues lament, and Kathie decides they should see other people. Even after trading a final round of insults, Gary returns to his harmonica while Kathie resumes typing to the beat.
