The premise

Here’s the bit.

Office workers Cathy and Kathy smother new hire Howard with a barrage of cheerful hellos, then turn to each other the moment he walks off to ask whether he might be gay. They trade flimsy evidence and office legends, from his silence about a girlfriend to an elaborate theory about a mail-room colleague, before deciding to test Howard directly by asking his advice on lunch and drinks, and they read his mild answers as damning. Tanya and another secretary pop up over the partition demanding a ruling, and even a supervisor phones in for an update. Howard returns in the middle of the speculation and calmly settles the question, and the group pretends it never cared before celebrating once he is out of earshot.

Say it with us

Highly quotable.

Well, he's been here three hours, and he hasn't mentioned a girlfriend yet.

Oh, I see. So he's more like a sexual scientist.

The proof is in the pasta.
