The premise

Here’s the bit.

A suburban father, his wife and their teenage daughter Karen sit down to a quiet dinner and make small talk about school, band practice and a mix-up over car keys. Every few lines the chat flips into screaming: Karen mocks her dad's stories, he insists he is an important division manager who drives a Dodge Stratus, and the women trade ugly insults over the dry cleaning. Each blowup passes as if nothing happened and the conversation resumes at once. When Karen finally storms off to a friend's house, her parents keep eating and the father praises the chicken, made from a soup-mix recipe.
