Ray Parker Jr. Theme Songs
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
In a late-night style commercial, Ray Parker Jr. explains that his famous Ghostbusters hit was only one of the many film themes he wrote and sent to studios over the years. He then presents the rejected material: recording-booth clips of overly literal, title-chanting anthems for everything from Jumanji and Armageddon to Face/Off, The Passion of the Christ and 12 Years a Slave, each more mismatched with its film than the last. The pitch closes with the offer of a cassette and CD set that pointedly leaves out the one song people actually know.
