A detective pursues the serial killer Carlo through a red-lit hall of mirrors. Reflections let Carlo taunt him and waste his ammunition, but the game changes when the detective finally finds the real man. Cornered, Carlo tries to pass himself off as another image in the glass. He flinches at the gun and invents excuses for every sign that he is physically present, even after being shot. He offers the kidnapped woman's location in exchange for the detective admitting uncertainty about what he is seeing. Once the detective gives in, Carlo reveals her hiding place near the entrance, then collapses while treating their exchange as his victory.
