The Identity Killer: Part II
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
Back at the station, the inspector sums up the case against the Identity Killer: the team has his name, address, job, phone number, method, motive and opportunity, a confession, and the man himself sitting among them in a bloodstained shirt. When his young detective suggests they could simply arrest him, the inspector talks himself into knots over whether that is exactly what the killer wants them to do or think, a theory the suspect politely denies. The killer then announces he is leaving and strolls out of the room, and the inspector concludes gloomily that their quarry is always one step ahead.

Say it with us
Highly quotable.
All we've got is a name, an address, an occupation, a phone number, a modus operandi, motive, opportunity, a confession and him in the room.
We could try arresting him, boss.
He's always that one step ahead of us.
