The premise

Here’s the bit.

The host of Extreme Baking Championship has the home bakers present cakes built around beloved cartoon characters to three judges. Chantal's ambitious Olaf scene has collapsed into a mess she cheerfully admits is bad, and go-to-work dad Jimmy's Cookie Monster creation is a shapeless blue lump with the name Sean written on it for no reason he can explain. Sandy's SpongeBob cake is flawless, so the judges skip straight past it. Then Jimmy's lump starts groaning and pleading to be killed, which the judges find revolting yet impressively creative, much to Sandy's fury. Ralph closes the round with a Yoda cake carrying an anatomical addition while the tormented cake keeps asking to be sent to hell.

Highly quotable.

I think my nerves got the best of me, and also, I'm bad. I'm bad.

Please destroy me. I feel nothing but pain!

My cartoon was Yoda the Pesky Elf.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

This is the first of five Baking Championship sketches on SNL (2019 to 2024); Heidi Gardner's Sandy and Kyle Mooney's Ralph appear in all of them. Kenan Thompson provides the voice of the living Cookie Monster cake.
