Simon and Hecubus: Evil Patients
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
Opening another broadcast from the Pit of Ultimate Darkness, Sir Simon Milligan grumbles when his requested reverb kicks in at the wrong moment, then lectures viewers on how a diseased mind can splinter into distinct people, brandishing a brain to make the point. He summons Hecubus and puts him into the Sleep of Ages, hoping to parade the horrors within. Instead he meets Ed, who does nothing in particular, Ted, who sounds exactly like Ed, and Fred, who keeps pretending to be the others; even the promising Julio the bus driver turns out to be Fred playing another trick. Exasperated, Simon slaps Hecubus awake and warns the audience that anyone can snap at any moment, but Ed resurfaces to complain about his costume during the sign-off and the two bicker as they leave.

Say it with us
Highly quotable.
Really? Then how do you know when you're done?
Gee, Ted, you sound an awful lot like Ed.
Now we're cooking with evil gas.
A little extra
Notes from the archive.
The official episode rundown and Wikipedia's episode list title this segment "Evil Patients"; fan transcripts call it "Multiple Personalities". Simon introduces the act as being in the tradition of The Three Faces of Eve, "yet less ambitious than" Sybil.
