The premise

Here’s the bit.

On their candlelit horror-host stage, the Pit of Ultimate Darkness, Sir Simon Milligan and the devoted Hecubus open with petty grievances before calling for a volunteer. Easygoing cafe patron Tony Henderson agrees to come up, and after Hecubus's attempt at the Sleep of Ages is turned into a joke at his own expense, Simon puts Tony under, declares him a chicken and plants a post-hypnotic trigger based on a tongue twister he can barely pronounce. Later the pair phone Tony at work to set off the spell, but Simon keeps garbling the phrase and Tony simply hangs up confused, leaving the villains to console themselves that at least they wasted some of his working day.

The funny people

Say it with us

Highly quotable.

Now go to your nine-to-five world, cursed by my spell.

But, Master, he did not become a chicken.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

The sketch airs in two parts, Gandar 1 and Gandar 2, separated by other sketches in the episode. The hypnotic trigger phrase is a garbled version of the tongue twister about selling seashells by the seashore.

The rabbit hole continues

One more couldn’t hurt.
