The premise

Here’s the bit.

Sir Simon Milligan opens his occult TV hour with tips on summoning dark powers at home, but Hecubus arrives drunk, smashes a prized prop and is fired on the spot. As trade-paper headlines track the scandal, Simon holds open auditions for a new servant, haggles with his agent over a contract and finally tries carrying the show alone with a hand puppet, to the scorn of a heckler. Meanwhile Hecubus wakes up at a bar in Africa with an enormous tab and a new diplomatic job. In the second part Simon proudly introduces the new Hecubus, who is the old one, newly sober, and the two reunite with a hug.

Highly quotable.

You might want to get your mom to help you with the slaughter of the goat.

Wow. How much have I had to drink?

My name is Hecubus, and I am an alcoholic.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

The sketch airs in two parts separated by other sketches in the episode, and it uses mock entertainment-paper headlines as scene transitions.
