Paraside: Doonstairs
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
On his studio show Paraside, smug medium Raymond Day picks out a young man in the audience whose elderly mother has recently died. The readings start out sweet: she loved her houseplants, hated the daffodils left on her grave, and keeps making a strange shooing gesture. When the son mentions her terror of daddy long legs, Raymond gently explains that the gesture is not a memory at all. She has gone to hell, she is swarming with the insects she feared most, and as an agoraphobe she is being forced to go out looking like that for all eternity. Having delivered the news as warmly as a birthday greeting, Raymond passes on her love to the stunned son and wraps up the reading.

Highly quotable.
There's no nice way to put this. She's downstairs. They've put her downstairs.
Well, don't stick them down there for nothing, pal.
I thought she was wearing a sheet like a ghost, you know, to give me a wee fright.

Notes from the archive.
Limmy has said Raymond Day was partly inspired by the TV medium Colin Fry, including the character's trademark pinky point.
