The premise

Here’s the bit.

In this MADtv send-up of the opening of Scream, Casey Becker (Nicole Sullivan) is home alone when a menacing caller starts toying with her, only for the voice to belong to Candice Bergen (Mary Scheer), who demands she name a long-distance company or die. Paul Reiser (Chris Hogan) and Chris Rock (Phil LaMarr) follow with their own murderous pitches for discount and collect calling, each in the killer's black robe and mask. When all three knife-wielding spokespeople close in on her kitchen they end up fighting among themselves, and a U.S. Postal Service tag suggests skipping the phone companies and writing a letter instead.

Highly quotable.

Get the answer right, you win 120 free weekend minutes, then you die.

Do you know what your heart looks like squished in my hand? Switch to my company, or you're dead.

Well, you're gonna need to in a minute, because calls from hell is expensive.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

Parodies the opening of the 1996 horror film Scream, in which Drew Barrymore's Casey Becker is taunted by a killer over the phone. IMDb's segment list for the episode titles the sketch "Scrint".
