The premise

Here’s the bit.

After weatherman Geoff wraps up another soggy forecast, the Breakfast News sofa presenters turn to the morning's viewer emails, all of which are about him. The first writers merely call him a jinx, but each new message raises the stakes: the gods are angry, his blood must be spilled to save the harvest, he should be burned on a pyre, and a self-styled heretic slayer promises an obsidian knife. Mike and his co-host read every one in the same bright breakfast-television tone, Geoff gamely notes that sacrificing weathermen is not yet BBC policy, and the presenters cheerfully launch a phone vote on his fate, reminding licence-fee payers that it is their BBC.

Say it with us

Highly quotable.

Clearly the gods are angry. I think we should sacrifice him.

Burn him on a pyre. Only his screams will appease the all-powerful divinities.

Well, luckily, sacrificing weathermen hasn't yet become official BBC policy.
