The premise

Here’s the bit.

At a Salem witch trial, Ezekiel Cromwell freely admits to shapeshifting and brewing potions, then asks to be called a wizard instead of a witch. The new label wins over the men of the courtroom, who treat his spells as the height of cool while a frustrated townswoman points out that Ezekiel's wife was burned for the same crimes only a week earlier. When Ezekiel conjures a snake into her hands, the men shriek "witch" at her, yet cheer when he does the same trick himself and even lights the fire meant for his own execution. The judge rules that both of them are witches but insists on dealing with the cool one first, until her complaints about the double standard send the crowd back to burning her instead.
