Sort Yourself Out
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
In a parody of a women's health-product commercial, a woman in a striped jumper clutches her stomach and her head while an off-screen narrator runs through her supposed ailments: cramps, tension headaches, bloating, wrinkles, the start of a moustache and incontinence. The voice-over bluntly sums her up as leaky, ageing, hairy and overweight, points to her young son's stained school shirt, and suggests men can hardly be blamed for preferring other women before ordering women to sort themselves out. A heap of lotions, pads, pills and bleach is offered for an approximate price of nearly three hundred pounds, and the newly cheerful woman hauls the shopping past her sofa, delighted to be free at last. The advert then switches to a man in a vest in his bathroom, who is simply advised to shave and get drunk because he is already brilliant, and he toasts the camera with a pint of lager.

Inevitable wrinkles? The beginnings of lady moustache? And now you've pissed yourself again? Women, you're leaking, aging, hairy, overweight and everything hurts. And your children's clothes are filthy. No wonder men long for other, less clammy women. For God's sake, sort yourself out.
