Tron Carter's Law & Order
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
Presented as a special episode of Law & Order set in an alternate universe, the sketch follows two arrests in parallel. Police storm the mansion of Charles Jeffries, the CEO of Fonecom, shoot his dog and drag him to an interrogation room, where detectives taunt him and his overworked legal-aid lawyer shows little interest. Meanwhile a nervous detective phones Dave Chappelle's cocaine dealer Tron Carter to apologize for the warrant and lets him pick a convenient time to turn himself in. Over an upscale dinner, the district attorney's office praises Tron's community spirit and offers him a Senate testimony deal and a short stay at a minimum-security prison. Jeffries is convicted in minutes and berated by the judge before receiving life, while Tron answers every senator's question by pleading the Fifth and celebrates when his sentence is cut to a month.
