Devil Needs a Fiddle
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
The Devil challenges a confident Georgia fiddler to a contest, only to snap a string before his performance gets going. He leaves his opponent waiting at the crossroads and visits a music store, where the clerk offers a succession of alternatives. Accordions, bongos, guitars and stranger options do little for his intimidating image or his confidence. Other customers demonstrate their talents, and one gives him an earnest pep talk. He finally returns with a French horn, but his opponent is more interested in ending the racket than continuing their legendary duel.
