The premise

Here’s the bit.

Count Floyd breaks into the schedule to plug Saturday's Monster Chiller Horror Theatre, swearing that this week's 3-D shocker about plasma-sucking scorpions from Mississauga is the scariest film he has seen in years. He puts on his 3-D glasses and calls for the previews, but nothing rolls, and a crew member in a Chicago Cubs jersey wanders in with a clipboard to explain that the scorpion movie never arrived and the only film on hand is Four for Texas with the Rat Pack. Floyd gamely tries to sell the substitute as a horror picture, howling at each of its stars, conceding that it isn't even in 3-D and wondering aloud when the Rat Pack last did anything at all, before signing off with a string of increasingly desperate howls.

The funny people

Meet the cast. 2

Say it with us

Highly quotable.

It's the plasma-sucking scorpions from Mississauga.

We don't have the plasma suckers this week. We got a better one.

When's the last time they really did anything?

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

This promo aired in SCTV Network's "Towering Inferno" episode, first broadcast on 10 December 1982. Four for Texas, the film Count Floyd is stuck promoting, is a 1963 Robert Aldrich western starring Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.
