The premise

Here’s the bit.

In a Children's Television Workshop-style parody, a bored kid tossing pennies at a trash can is cornered by a bespectacled know-it-all who insists on explaining the difference between factual and value judgments, with big captions flashing up on screen. The lesson cuts to Mr. Willis's shop, where a grouchy green puppet named Herbie tries to buy materialism for his mother and gives up when offered two varieties, then to three weightlifters who demonstrate realism, idealism and existentialism with a barbell. Back on the street the know-it-all quizzes the kid one last time, and the kid answers with a punch and a gun, robbing his teacher as the closing caption declares the neighborhood unsuited to learning.

The funny people

Meet the cast. 6

Say it with us

Highly quotable.

Oh, now you're making a value judgment.

Actually, the two are inseparable, much like slum living and ignorance.

Well, we've got mechanistic materialism and dialectical materialism.
