The premise

Here’s the bit.

Broadcasting from a flower-covered set, Uri Shulenson announces that his store is going out of business and that callers should simply buy what they see. He offers a no-name Summit VCR, insisting it has the same insides as a Sony, then sells the supposed last one twice and lets callers talk him down while claiming the price is fixed. His fast-talking assistant Boris and a salesman crowd the desk to relay customer doubts and argue with the callers, a red pocket radio is passed off as a CD player, and a camera buyer who wants a missing manual is offered one for sixty dollars. When a caller mentions a consumer-affairs complaint, Uri suddenly declares sundown, closes the shop and promises another going-out-of-business sale next week.

Say it with us

Highly quotable.

Don't haggle, that's the price. The price you see is the price.

It has Sony guts, no difference.

Today only price, how much money do you have is the price today, okay?

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

Writer Robert Smigel voices the off-screen announcer Avi here; he later played Avi on camera in the follow-up, Sabra Price Is Right, in May 1992.
