The premise

Here’s the bit.

In this short bit from Mad TV's Halloween Spooktacular, KISS stand on the show's festive stage in full makeup and costume, each carrying a plastic jack-o'-lantern bucket after a night of trick-or-treating. One by one the bandmates dig out their loot and ask the next what he got: Paul Stanley has chocolate bars, Ace Frehley a popcorn ball and Gene Simmons a sour candy. Peter Criss, inheriting Charlie Brown's famously unlucky Halloween haul, admits he got nothing but a rock, then shrugs off the letdown with a pun on the band's own music.

Highly quotable.

I got a rock.

Well, I love rock.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

The punchline borrows the running gag from the 1966 special It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, in which Charlie Brown receives only rocks while trick-or-treating; KISS were guests on this 1998 Halloween episode.

The rabbit hole continues
