Night of the Terribly Proper Dead

A VERY GOOD USE OF YOUR TIME.

The setup

A trailer imagines Merchant Ivory remaking a zombie classic, with Hugh Grant as a ghoul far too well-mannered to barge in and eat anyone's brains.

The premise

Here’s the bit.

A narrator promotes a Merchant Ivory reinterpretation of the zombie film. An undead Hugh Grant knocks politely at a country house and stammers an apology for wanting to eat the occupants' brains, while Rupert Everett and Emma Thompson play a couple who treat boarding up their home as a pleasant hobby. When a second zombie crashes through the boards snarling, the couple chide him for being common and remind him that he is a guest. Michael Caine turns up as a constable who can only order the shambling dead to move along. By the end the couple have been bitten and join their visitors at a formal dinner, where Grant fusses over the quality of the brains served under a silver cloche.

Highly quotable.

Marvelous barricade work, Nigel. Good show.

I'm sure they'll let you devour brains at the palace with that demeanor.

Now these brains are not very firm. Not very firm at all.

A little extra
