A gospel choir gathers in its church for rehearsal, only to learn by text that their director, Charles, boarded the wrong bus and is stranded across town, though he still wants them to warm up. The singers start their vocal exercises without him. A mustachioed tenor becomes convinced that the bespectacled singer next to him is off pitch and keeps trying to nudge him toward a lower note, while his neighbor is just as sure the problem lies elsewhere. Each man cups an ear and keeps singing, trading pointed looks and sung corrections instead of stopping to talk it out. With no one in charge to settle it, the dispute spreads along the risers: other members take sides and air their own grievances with one another, and every complaint is delivered mid-scale and in harmony, until the whole rehearsal has turned into a choir-wide feud.
