Judge Not

A Bit of Fry & Laurie
SKETCH-O-VISION
A VERY GOOD USE OF YOUR TIME.

The setup

An overbearing barrister turns a witness’s cross-examination into an increasingly irrelevant investigation of her private life.

The premise

Here’s the bit.

During a cross-examination, counsel becomes more interested in insinuations about Mrs Talliot’s sexuality than the case. The judge repeatedly appears ready to restore order, only to reveal prejudices of his own. Elaborate accusations and verbal flourishes carry the hearing further from any useful testimony.
