Whip Boy
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
On a night rooftop, a trench-coated police commissioner summons the city's costumed hero, Whip Boy, to warn him that every villain he has locked up has escaped from the asylum and sworn revenge. Whip Boy cracks his whip, boasts about how sore the criminals still are from past beatings, and delivers a string of whip puns about his plan to recapture them, while the commissioner grows steadily more exasperated. After the pep talk the hero announces he is off home to dinner with his wife, and the two part ways by elevator. The ride becomes a long, mortifying stretch of politeness as they bump into each other, apologize, wait through extra stops and stare at the ceiling, before the awkward farewell.

Say it with us
Highly quotable.
Yeah, they're all still sore that I whipped their butts.
I'll have all those bad guys back in the asylum so fast, it'll give them whiplash.
Well, I'm going to go home now and have dinner with my wife.

Yes, well, you know, he's not the only one whip boy. Practically all of the villains have escaped tonight. And as you know, most of them have sworn vengeance on you.
- 00:43
Whip Boy
Yeah, they're all still sore that I whipped their butts.
- 00:47
Police Commissioner
Right, for doing that. But I just wanted to ask you here tonight to warn you to be careful while you're out there in the city.
- 00:53
Whip Boy
Don't worry. I'll have all those bad guys back in the asylum so fast, it'll give them whiplash.
- 01:00
Police Commissioner
Right, well, uh, maybe this could give you a clue. Earlier tonight, there was a big explosion down at the old chemical plant. Does that give you any ideas, Whip Boy?
- 01:08
Whip Boy
That gives me tons of great ideas. You see, the bad guys of Empire City probably think that the tide has turned, but what they don't know is that Whip Boy is a creature of the night. With a flick of my wrist, I'll send my barbs of justice screeching across their face. I'll hunt down each one of these evil-doers and whip the crap out of them. Well, I'm going to go home now and have dinner with my wife.
- 01:32
Somebody sounds whipped.
- 01:34
Police Commissioner
Okay, whip boy, that's enough of that. Now, just be careful out there tonight. Try to get these guys, but try not to break any laws while you're at it. If you do find anybody and you need help, just let us know. Still have your cell phone on?
- 01:46
Whip Boy
Yep, just charged it.
- 01:47
Police Commissioner
Okay, great. Good luck tonight, whip boy.
- 01:50
Oh, you going down? Yep. Let's go. First floor, right? That's right. Oh, allow me. Go ahead. head. Oh sorry. It's okay. Hold on. Yeah. Looks like we're making two stops. Yes it does. Two. Again. Again sorry about that. It's okay.
- 02:41
Police Commissioner
See you later whip boy.
- 02:42
Whip Boy
See you later Commissioner.
