The premise

Here’s the bit.

Standing at the edge of a lake in a pale suit and bow tie, idly whittling a stick, Thomas Lennon's Old Fashioned Guy presents himself as a defender of traditional belief. His proudly conservative stance on monotheism collapses in a single reveal: the deity he has in mind is a lake spirit with an unfamiliar name, turning a familiar talking point into primitive nature worship in about twenty seconds.

Highly quotable.

I still believe there's only one true God. And he lives in this lake. And his name is Zorgo.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

This was the first of two Old Fashioned Guy segments in the same episode; the second, "Fire is Magic," aired later in the show.
