Dull Death
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
Kevin arrives late at the golf course, bursting to describe his latest brush with death: the heart attack, the glowing hallway, the beckoning hand and the doctors who revived him. Dave finishes every detail before Kevin can, because he has heard the same story after each of his friend's many deaths and just wants to tee off. Kevin takes offence, and Dave tries to explain his boredom by comparing it to hearing about an endless series of chicken salad sandwiches. Mid-argument Kevin suffers another heart attack and dies on the spot, rising as a translucent ghost who is thrilled by his new state. Dave shrugs that off too, drives a ball straight through him and leaves, telling his friend to call once he is alive again.

Highly quotable.
My best friend bored of all my deaths.
Look, let's just play golf, okay, Lazarus?
Come on, this doesn't impress you? I've never been a ghost before.
A little extra
Notes from the archive.
When Kevin claims he has never been a ghost before, Dave cites The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, a 1947 supernatural romance film that was later adapted into a 1968–1970 television sitcom; the two then argue over whether it was a movie first.
