Carol and Sis: The Interior Decorator
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
As Chris heads out on a date and Roger leaves for golf, Carol mentions that a plumber and an interior decorator are coming over. Roger sneers at the idea of a fussy decorator until Mr. Bruce arrives: a tall, square-jawed former pro football player in a business suit. Suddenly in no hurry to leave, Roger sends Carol off to make coffee so he can quiz the visitor about his marriage, his living arrangements and his roommate situation, then cancels the job outright. After Roger apologizes for his jealousy and finally heads out, the plumber turns up at the door, played by surprise guest Rock Hudson, and Roger hustles him off to the kitchen before Carol can get a good look.

Highly quotable.
What is Lenny, an unemployed gorilla?
Why is it always Bruce? Just once, I'd like to hear of an interior decorator named Rocky.
Did you see those shoulders? I'm jealous, not crazy.
A little extra
Notes from the archive.
The official clip continues past the sketch into Carol Burnett's on-stage chat with surprise guest Rock Hudson, who had only just returned to town, and he plugs the film he had just made in Italy, The Hornet's Nest. The clip's description says season 3, episode 6, but TVDB, TV Guide and IMDb place this sketch in the October 6, 1969 episode with Steve Lawrence and Edward Villella (episode 3).
