Helivets: Hamster
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
When a mother and daughter notice their pet rodent has gone off its food, the pink-jumpsuited Helivets descend by helicopter to their blaring theme tune and burst into the living room. They assure the girl her pet will soon be back to its old routines in the cage, while her mother flatly corrects each cheerful promise with the news that it is dead. Even after one Helivet lifts the stiff, smelly corpse out by its tail, the duo insist it can still be saved before roaring off in their helicopter once more.

Highly quotable.
Don't worry, little girl. We'll soon have your gerbil scampering hither and thither about his cage again.
It's stiff and smelly.

Notes from the archive.
This was the second Helivets sketch, airing two episodes after their debut dog rescue. The episode guide titles it as a hamster, although the Helivets call the pet a gerbil.
