The premise
Here’s the bit.
On their homemade celebrity programme, Big Jim McBob and Billy Sol Hurok ask a fictionalised Neil Sedaka about his return to the charts. The interview keeps veering away from his music toward jokes about his voice, until the exasperated singer threatens to leave. Persuaded to stay, he takes to the piano for a performance that climbs toward the hosts’ favourite kind of finale.

Say it with us
Highly quotable.
Even when he gets mad, his voice goes high.
Would you blow up for us?
Boy, he blowed up good.
A little extra
Notes from the archive.
Big Jim and Billy Sol’s programme grew out of a farming report, then became a film-review show before turning to celebrity interviews.
