Yuri, Getting to Know You

An SCTV network promo introduces Yuri Rozmanovich, an Olympic weightlifting champion from Russia who is being handed a prime-time variety hour. Between clips of Yuri straining under enormous barbells and leading a chorus line of lifters through a show tune, the promo teases his celebrity guests: a buxom country star, a tuxedoed song-and-dance legend who shares the stage with Yuri and a barbell, and a twitchy stand-up comedian whose sad-sack routine Yuri flatly dismisses. Yuri then tries his hand at faith healing on a nervous volunteer before the announcer promises an hour of music, comedy and weightlifting every Thursday night.
