Pete runs the counter at the Olympia Cafe, hurrying his customers along and steering every order, whether tuna, grilled cheese or a Coke, toward the same three items, while cousin George echoes each call from the grill and the busboy Nico can only nod. A regular asks how the staff are related, and Pete explains a family tree of cousins he treats as closer kin than they are. Then a newcomer sits down wanting a simple breakfast of eggs and sausage. Nico offers him a cheeseburger, and Pete flatly announces that breakfast is over. When the man protests that it's too early in the day for a burger, Pete points around the room at every customer's plate, and George takes each word as a fresh order and piles patties onto the grill. The worn-down customer finally gives in and asks for a cheeseburger, only to learn they've run out, which leaves Pete serving him scrambled eggs after all, with a Pepsi instead of the Coke he wanted.
