Vera the Psychic Lady
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
Introduced to the studio audience, gray-haired psychic Vera Mangus (Stephnie Weir) takes the stage with her cigarette and ashtray and goes straight to work. She presses one man about a mysterious pig-farming connection, then asks whether he is a police officer, then decides he works with his hands; when he turns out to be a health inspector, she mocks his job and moves on. She next tells a young woman that her grandmother's spirit is reaching out, and when the woman points out that her grandmother is alive and well, Vera insists she knew that all along and that the message is simply to stop worrying. Vera then announces that the woman's spirit guide has arrived, patiently explains what a spirit guide is, and reveals that hers has taken the form of prop comic Carrot Top. She closes with a piece of coffee-chain wisdom about life and waves goodbye.
