Mr. and Mrs. Brooks
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
After Mr. and Mrs. Brooks send their grandson and his wife home with sweet talk about staying married through thick and thin, the elderly couple drop the act. Between rounds of insults about feet, flatulence, false teeth and sagging bodies, each sends the other on errands that turn dangerous, including a lamp Mr. Brooks is asked to plug in just as his wife splashes him with water. A jab about his mother sparks a creaky fistfight that leaves them both stuck on the floor calling for help, and the grandson, back for his forgotten wallet, mistakes the pile-up for lasting romance.

Highly quotable.
Oh, I'm knitting a muzzle.
With your false teeth, your glass eye, your wooden leg, your plastic hip, your pacemaker and your hearing aid, you got more attachments than a Hoover automatic.
A little extra
Notes from the archive.
This sketch introduced the bickering Brooks couple and gave the Season 4 episode its title. They returned later that season for a Thanksgiving dinner, a second honeymoon and a garage sale.
