Bonfire Safety Tips with Guy Fawkes
The setup
The premise
Here’s the bit.
Speaking to camera like a public-information presenter, a chipper Guy Fawkes walks viewers through five safety tips for the fifth of November that double as a step-by-step account of the Gunpowder Plot unravelling. He fusses over the barrels of gunpowder stacked beneath Parliament, watches a fellow conspirator decide that warning Lord Monteagle by letter can't possibly hurt, is caught standing beside the barrels by a smug soldier of the King who got a tip-off, gives up the letter-writer under torture, and finally urges everyone to avoid being hanged, drawn and quartered. Pop-up signs confirm that each grim detail really happened, and Rattus Rattus closes with Monteagle's reward for passing on the warning.

Highly quotable.
Always make sure there are no fellow Catholics in Parliament. You wouldn't want to blow them up, would you?
Do be careful not to get tortured.
Under no circumstances get hung, drawn and quartered.
A little extra
Notes from the archive.
The episode was moved to BBC Two for its first broadcast because Wimbledon coverage displaced it, according to the British Comedy Guide. The closing fact is delivered by the show's puppet Rattus Rattus, voiced by John Eccleston.
