The premise
Here’s the bit.
When Broden notices a stranger in the kitchen, Mark proudly introduces the man he has taken in and trained like a pet. The apparently obedient guest privately begs Broden to help him escape. Broden interprets the desperate plea as an attack, and Mark responds to the supposed danger by putting down his beloved stray.
