The premise
Here’s the bit.
Gabbatore approaches the British Prime Minister with his interpreter and asks him to confirm a meeting that never happened. Faced with resistance, the visiting leader offers increasingly extravagant incentives and appeals to their friendship. The Prime Minister tries to maintain his principles as the conversation becomes an exercise in disguising personal favors as international diplomacy.
