The premise

Here’s the bit.

Ronnie calls the agency's creative team to order, recalls how Ravi's slogan helped them sell toilet paper to the villages, and announces their toughest job yet: an account to promote tampons to modern Indian women. Asking Neelam for ideas because she is the only woman on the team earns an indignant refusal, and a description of the British campaign's skydiving model in skin-tight Lycra goes nowhere. Once the box is opened, the men are baffled, one of them assumes the product has to be swallowed, and the team decides it should carry a warning that only married women may use it. Ram then pitches his concept, in which a woman in a full burkha, a bell round her neck and a sign declaring her unclean, is saved by a packet of the product, and the room greets it as a triumph. Neelam storms out, and the men put her mood down to the time of the month.

Highly quotable.

Right. So now I'm some sort of feminine hygiene guru, is that it?

I feel sorry for women, you know. It can't be much fun having to swallow one of these every month, huh?

A little extra
