The premise

Here’s the bit.

Benny Kiang and teenage contender Leonard Hulz face each other across a table in a packed stadium. While the drawings barely move, the commentators build up the match as a major sporting occasion, dwell on Hulz’s youth and popularity, and discuss the lucky panda he carries. His enormous fan club and its panda merchandise become further evidence of a supposed sporting phenomenon, ending with the hope that young viewers will take up staring themselves.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

The official upload features Kiang versus Hulz from the third episode, rather than the season-ending championship match. The staring sequences were written and drawn by Paul Hatcher and animated by Chris Shepherd.
