Behind the running joke
A little backstory.
A Goodness Gracious Me series about two snobbish, newly wealthy British Asian couples, the Coopers (really the Kapoors) and the Robinsons (really the Rabindranaths), who insist they are entirely English. Each tries to outdo the other in English respectability, but slips into their real names, mangled customs and small mistakes keep betraying the heritage they deny. The segments run across all three television series.
