The premise
Here’s the bit.
Two men in rumpled shirts and ties lie side by side on the grass, lazily pointing out what the clouds overhead resemble: a duck with a tuba, the Queen, a pineapple, even one of the darker inkblot cards from a psychology test. When the next cloud looks like an enormous mushroom, both cheerfully agree, and that jogs a reminder that they should really move along before radiation sickness kicks in. The trouble, one of them mentions just as casually, is that the explosion has already cost him both of his legs.
