The premise

Here’s the bit.

The two leering tailors introduce their inexperienced new assistant, Philip Kenneth, and walk him around the shop, pointing out jackets, shirts and the all-important trouser. His training moves on to the tape measure, delivered with the solemnity of a sacred trust and a stream of suggestive measuring tips. Once he is seated, the pair close in and start quizzing him about his girlfriend in ever more lurid detail. When the embarrassed boy politely says he would rather keep his private life to himself, they agree with a smile and promptly sack him.

Highly quotable.

Oh, suit you, young sir.

Look after it, for it will be your best friend, your lover and your mother.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

According to Wikipedia, the tailors' signature background music, Mantovani's recording of "Some Enchanted Evening", was replaced with similar-sounding music on the 2003 Series 2 and 2007 Ultimate Fast Show Collection DVD releases.
