Jamie drops in on his Nan the day after his sister has given birth, and she starts off sounding delighted that she got to hold the tiny new girl. Once Jamie admits he has seen the baby too, the pretence drops away and Nan delivers a gleeful, foul-mouthed inventory of everything she finds wrong with the child: its hair, its head, its eye, its name and the father it takes after. Jamie protests and defends his sister, but the moment he pushes back, Nan flips into indignant praise of what a good girl his sister is to her, and her story about pressing money on her ends with one last barb aimed at the baby.
