The setup

A supposedly fearsome German interrogator tries increasingly ridiculous methods to make an American prisoner talk.

The premise

Here’s the bit.

An American prisoner refuses to give information to the German officers holding him. Their specialist’s threats are repeatedly undermined by his own clumsiness, awkward translations and an assortment of unlikely props. His attempt to intimidate the captive with a Hitler hand puppet turns the interrogation into a performance that leaves the prisoner visibly fighting back laughter.

Say it with us

Highly quotable.

I am the most feared interrogator in all the world and part of Canada.

I'm sorry, he was talking to me.

A little extra

Notes from the archive.

Conway recalled surprising the other performers with the Hitler puppet in Claudia Perry’s 2005 interview report.
